What is the difference between a Starting Point and a Category?
A Starting Point shapes a new record with useful labels and may suggest a Category. A Category is the record’s ongoing organizational home. You can change either while creating the record.
Why did records appear on another device but not open?
CloudKit may have delivered the encrypted record before iCloud Keychain delivered its matching key. Keep both devices online, confirm they use the same Apple Account with iCloud Passwords & Keychain enabled, and unlock HarborKeep again after allowing time to sync. Do not set up a new vault on a device that should open an existing one.
How do I enable HarborKeep AutoFill?
- Open iOS Settings, then Apps, Passwords, and Password Options.
- Enable AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys.
- Under Autofill From, enable HarborKeep AutoFill.
- Save a HarborKeep record with a website, username, and password.
What should I know before exporting or restoring?
In upcoming 5.3, open Settings > Backup, Sync & Recovery. Choose Save a Readable Copy for files you can use elsewhere, Back Up to save an encrypted backup and recovery kit together, or Restore Backup to bring a saved library into HarborKeep. After saving a backup, check the receipt for both files. More options includes Verify a Backup and a separate Save Offline Recovery Kit action.
Keep the encrypted HarborKeep backup and its passphrase in safe, separate places. HarborKeep cannot recover a lost export passphrase. Use merge to preserve existing records; use replace only when you intend to clear the current vault before restoring.
A readable copy is unencrypted and includes passwords and other private fields, so choose a private storage location. Unzip the saved export, open its index.html, and check the documents you rely on.
Can I recover a backup without installing HarborKeep?
The downloadable offline recovery tool reads supported backups with their backup passphrase. It runs in a desktop browser and does not upload your backup. It currently accepts files up to 100 MiB; older backups can have limitations for rich notes and drawings. Read the instructions and limits before downloading.
Does HarborKeep send photos or documents to an AI service?
No developer-run AI service receives vault content. Apple Vision, text recognition, and supported Apple Intelligence analyze content on the device. Suggestions remain optional. Newly saved insight is encrypted with the attachment; some older insight entries use a readable legacy format.

Why does the estimate differ from my actual output?
The app combines forecast weather with sun position and your saved direction, tilt, watts, and loss assumptions. Check the selected site and setup first. Shade, equipment, temperature, and changing weather can affect production. Estimated kWh and goal finish times are planning guidance, not measured output or guarantees.
A goal finish time assumes that the estimated solar output is available to the selected goal.
Which features need the Supporter unlock?
Daily planning, Today vs Tomorrow, the hourly timeline, saved sites and setups, output estimates, energy goals, setup comparisons, and Install Mode are free. The optional one-time Supporter unlock adds the 7-day outlook, home customization, full-day time scrubbing, and advanced sky and alignment overlays.
What should I check when location or weather looks wrong?
Confirm the selected site and date. For your current location, check the app’s location permission in iOS Settings. Weather and place-name lookup require access to Apple services; compass readings can be affected by nearby metal or magnetic interference. Saved setup details remain on your device.

How do I unlock or restore the Full Campaign?
Missions 1–5 are free. After you finish Mission 5, the Flight Deck offers the Full Campaign, a one-time purchase that unlocks Missions 6–18. You can also open Settings → Account & Data → Purchases / Restore at any time.
On a new device or after reinstalling, tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account. Buying and restoring need an internet connection; playing does not.
Is Free Flight included for free?
Yes. Free Flight is open from the first launch, with no purchase needed. Fly the Grand Tour, Iron Ravine, and Stormbreak routes for score, or take on the Daily Patrol, which changes every day. Hull colors are earned through commendations as you play.
Can I play without an internet connection?
Yes. Every mission, cutscene, and setting works offline, including in airplane mode. A purchased Full Campaign stays unlocked offline.
Where is my progress saved, and can I start over?
Progress, records, ships, and settings are stored on your device. Deleting the app removes that local copy unless it is in an Apple backup.
To start over, use Settings → Account & Data → Erase Pilot Record. It resets story progress but keeps your settings and never affects your purchase.
Does Driftlock support game controllers?
Yes. Connect a compatible gamepad at any time; touch controls stay available. Settings → Controls shows the touch controls and every controller button for missions, Free Flight, and menus.
The game is too hard, too loud, or too bright. What can I change?
Choose Story, Pilot, or Ace difficulty and turn on Precision Assist in Settings → Flight. Music, sound effects, dialogue, and haptics each have their own control in Settings → Audio & Feedback, and in the pause menu during a flight.
Settings → Accessibility offers a high-contrast flight HUD, Reduced Motion, and Reduced Flash. Driftlock also follows the iOS Reduce Motion setting.
